Makko kudake

Break straight

In this waza the opponents Hakama is trapped before being sliced – Trapping the Hakama.

Tsuki dome

Thrust and sudden drop

In this waza the opponent is dropped with a kick then impaled.

Kote otoshi

Wrist drop

In this waza the opponents wrist is chopped before being impaled/split with the drop-cut at the end.

Fuha ken

Windbreak sword

In this waza an upward cut precedes a very powerful downward drop-cut.

Sakate nuki

Reverse draw

This waza is a response to a bearhug from behind, where the opponent is impaled with the turning motion. This is the only waza to have a reverse grip. (little finger to the tsuba, not the thumb/index finger…)

Ryusei ken

Dragon power sword

In this waza the opponent is an Archer with 4 to 6 arrows in their quill. Tori defends the paired attacks before countering with drop-cut.

Kosei to

Tiger power sword

In this waza tori springs back before impaling their opponent.

Bowing

After completing Tachiai, step foward and return to the spot you started Omote / set 1 from and sit in seisa.

Pull the cord-end from under the obi with the right hand, pass it to the left and prepare to disarm. With the right hand, remove the Katana from the obi, blunt side facing shomen.

Hold the Katana in the left hand and straighten the cord with the right and place the Katana flat in front. (blunt side to shomen) Complete the kata by bowing to shomen / the front.
